More than 150 years after its construction (1851), the Town Tomb in #Amherst West #Cemetery had begun to show signs of its age: stone facia out of alignment, leaning and creating gaps; rusted ironwork.

The squirrel is cute as hell, but only the deterioration of the #Tomb allowed him entry.

As part of a large package of proposals for the Town's 250th anniversary, the Historical Commission persuaded #TownMeeting to authorize $30,000 for restoration.

In many respects, #SocialMedia has been like a #NewEngland #TownMeeting, if the town locked you inside permanently and only gave the mic to the loudest people in the room.

A number of people in town have a hard time navigating the single ~700 page pdf the town produces for Town Meeting, so I made this site to break things down by warrant article and make it easy to see the most important info (motions, recommendations, etc).

I’m really interested in helping make #Brookline representative #TownMeeting easier to follow and more accessible - things like making it easier to find important info in warrant articles, understand what’s being voted on, etc. If anyone’s doing similar work in other towns or like how things are done in your town, I’d love to hear about it!
