We'd like to introduce our #archaeological project and the site to you. The name #Nokalakevi means "ruins where a town was", but it is also known as #Tsikhegoji (the fortress of #Kuji) or ‘the triple-walled fortress’ in #medieval #Georgian chronicles. To early #Byzantine historical sources it was known as #Archaeopolis and was successfully defended against a Persian attack in the mid 6th century AD 🧵
