Stayed home from work yesterday with a suspected sinus infection. Getting it checked out now. #UrgentCare #GoodTimes
I'm at #UrgentCare and now I am #masked. Disturbingly #masking is only #optional.

My partner had a seemingly minor head injury four days ago, but their #concussion symptoms got worse rather than better. Yesterday the #NHS phone helpline said to go to #UrgentCare, and that they'd call an ambulance if they couldn't get a lift. So I dropped them off at 6pm feeling queasy, dizzy and headachy. They weren't seen by a doctor for twelve hours, and at 6am the consultant told them "no treatment, you just need rest" ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
I'm furious. What a futile and counterproductive rigmarole! ๐คฌ
I have a nasty #ear #infection. I have been flushing it out with warm water. It seems to be working, but I will likely need #antibiotics. There was a four-and-a-half-hour wait at the #urgentcare, so I left and went to #photography class instead.

Over the past three months, I've spent close to 50 hours on the phone with #BlueCrossBlueShield, my #doctor, and an #urgentcare clinic I saw ONE TIME trying to get them to pay for my #healthcare. (Very simple office visits, mind!) Finally TODAY I reach a #customerservice rep who is able to figure out what the hell is wrong and process my claims. If I didn't already work in healthcare and know where to start digging to get my healthcare paid for, I would have been out almost $2,000 for basic preventative healthcare.
Now picture someone who DOESN'T work in healthcare, living just above the #poverty benefits line, with sub-par #healthinsurance because their state didn't expand #Medicare coverage under the #AffordableCareAct like the monsters the #GOP has proven themselves to be time and time again. They have neither the time nor the knowledge needed to navigate this absolute #capitalisthellscape.
This #bullshit is why we need #MedicareForAll YESTERDAY.

Chatting with a pediatrician and professor in #Urgentcare . Our numbers in #Wisconsin for #RSV #influenza and #COVID are down by double digits. He thinks we burned through the population and now have herd immunity at the moment, a combination of good #vaccination and acquired immunity. You know--that place we could have been at if everyone had gotten vaccinated the first time around? I hope so, because seeing waiting rooms full of sniffling, coughing, feverish folks is exhausting day after day.

I have #COVID and am isolating at home. My #doctor will not see me or his bureaucracy will not. They dumped me as a patient for not going to the doctor during the pandemic. I canโt get local #urgentcare either. The practice was has a giant crowded facility 30 mins away where all their dumped patients sit for hours infecting each other. I can see a #telehealth thru insurance but they canโt prescribe. Is this #malpractice or #abandonment or just sheer lack of #medicalethics #medicine #doctor

#RSV and #influenza have dropped SIGNIFICANTLY in #Urgentcare in #Wisconsin. 1. Why do I feel like I'm waiting for the next shoe to drop? and 2. How long before management reduces staffing? #nurse #medicine #MedMastodon

#MedMastodon my #Urgentcare has come up with an incomplete protocol where triage RNs are supposed to swab for strep, send home if they meet some general criteria and then we prescribe tx for positives based on a protocol. The swab process is based on a 'trial' protocol that's been in use since the pandemic. The tx protocol is apparently signed by MD of the day. As a hospital RN, I feel extremely uncomfortable with this swab/send/prescribe, no matter what #protocol they give me. Thoughts?

My grown up doctor wish is for my colleagues in #UrgentCare, #EmergencyMedicine, and for goodness sake my fellow #PrimaryCare docs to successfully resist the urge to throw azithromycin (aka a Z Pack) at everything this holiday week.

@dynamicsymmetry omg, YES! YES! I work at #Urgentcare and 30% of our influenza tests are positive. It's not even about #Covid for me--I don't want the flu. I don't want a 2 week course of an upper respiratory infection. I don't want to deal with cold symptoms and feel like shit and still have to work. If I can wear a mask at the store to avoid that and at work, I'm on board. I remind people I'm testing we're seeing this rise in #URI because no one is masking.
@reverendofdoubt This is true. At #Urgentcare it wasn't even the patient volume, it was the #staffing. I came in on my day off to help. To be honest, it was partly because my 10 hour shift on xmas day was such a breeze. ๐ thanks for being there!
In a healthcare #wtf moments, when I asked my boss at #Urgentcare yesterday about orders to add on an #influenza screen to our standard Covid for new nausea and ongoing headache/fatigue, I was forced off because this meets #Covid sx. At UC, our positivity rates for flu are 30% right now, so I was much more concerned for flu. So, they were #shortstaffed yesterday because it took time for my PCR to come back negative. What's more fun? Job doesn't require negative flu to return.

Me, new at #Urgentcare : "oh, this would be a cool paper..." "Oh, someone should do a study on this..." "Why aren't we collecting information on..." Also me: not in any degree programs right now. ๐ If I was, I'm sure I'd have a line of unfinished papers. ;)
To every provider taking the time to control pain before and after procedures, checking on home resources before sending out into the world, caring enough that a random patient continues to impact how they provide care, I see you. You are amazing #medtwitter #medicine #Urgentcare #ER

@Dianora @ChristyCeeCK oh lord. Iโve just heard something similar. Roller coaster from hell for #Urgentcare
I changed jobs this year from hospital to urgent care. I knew hospital workers were traumatized from #covid but it also hit home in discussion last night that so was the #Urgentcare world and #HCW in general. I don't think the public understands-- we really are suffering from #PTSD r/t all things covid. The lack of leadership, the constant change, the exposure, the confusion with our pts, the #gaslighting and most importantly, the #ethic injuries.
