It took me some time to adapt to #VíkingurÓlafsson's #piano style, but once I did I understood his wonderful aptitude. I only have a small handful of his albums, but I do intend to get more.

The “Intermezzo” from Brahms’ “7 Fantasies”, Op. 116, was picked by singer Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir, also hailing from Iceland, who made it into a lullaby to her then just a few weeks old son.
She wrote a poem and composed new vocal layers; the result is abolutely stunning and very touching. Listen to “Notturno”:

Víkingur Ólafsson - PHILIP GLASS - Piano Works
Bevor ich dieses Album hörte, war ich nicht so ein ausgesprochener Fan der Klaviermusik von #PhilipGlass. Was der isländische Pianist jedoch aus dieser #Minimalmusic herausholt, ist wirklich bemerkenswert und beglückend. Es ist, als hätte er einen Motor angeworfen, der die ganze Zeit - durch alle Nuancen - für einen wunderbaren Drive sorgt. Die Musik lebt, atmet und swingt. Was ganz Feines!
