There’s a tradition in my family that your grandmother makes you a quilt when you turn 13; my great aunt stepped in and made me one after my grandmother died. I was always touched by that and feel strongly that “make a quilt for his 13th birthday” is one of my duties as “honorary auntie” for my late friend’s son.

Lately I've had success with the following tactic:

"Hey neighbor, you should spray this #poisonIvy ."

-- "That's #virginiaCreeper "

"Are you sure? I really think--"

-- *chomp* *chew* *chew* *spit* "Yeah, I'm really sure."

"Omg, did you--?"

-- "I'm sorry. That was rude. Did you want some?"

(WARNING: Do not try this trick yourself. Virginia Creeper in public places may have been sprayed with #glyphosate or other herbicides, which can be very bad for you.)

The HOA and neighbors (no doubt sympathizers) are always giving me "friendly" reminders that I have #poisonIvy in my yard.

A tropical conversation is like so:

You know you've got some poison ivy over here?

-- That's #VirginiaCreeper.

What about--

-- #CatBriar

And--

-- #Blackberries

Well this has 3 leaves!

-- Every #plant has 3 leaves if you stop counting at 3. This plant has 5 leaves, and bark, and it's growing out of a #hickory nut.

Well it could be poison oak.

-- HICKORY NUT!

This is another print employing both turmeric and cyanotype, to image fern and Virginia Creeper, with quite different results from the last. It shows the range of effects and elements of the unpredictable here!

This one of a kind cyanotype with tumeric sun print on water colour paper 11" x 14" has an image of virginia creeper leaves.

An anthotype is a sun print made with light-sensitive pigments. I painted pigment from tumeric directly onto water colour paper and then also treated it with photochemicals.
