First time since many years that I went to a music festival yesterday. It was huge, in no way comparable to those I went to some 10 years ago. Since it is in the middle of Mexico City you can arrive by metro and there's no camping. Music was good, the crowd relaxed: I enjoyed it generally. Only downside: everything was incredibly expensive! 700ml of beer went for 130 MXN, which is around 6-7€ (+no buying with cash or card, had to charge money on bracelet...)

Why is it that #MusicFestivals are still booking the same bands from 20 years ago as headliners? They were new and exciting and could draw a crowd 20 years ago, but why do they still seem to be the only choice today?

This seems to be a worldwide phenomenon. I'm also thinking of Latin American music festivals like #ViveLatino. Looking at the bands here:

and they seem to be like 80% the same as 1998. And hey! What happened to the "Latino" part?
