I was wondering why I am mentally clouded and exhausted today. Then I looked at the air quality index. Smoke effects me a lot. I assume if is ftom yhe fires aling the border with Oregon. #WildfireSmoke

Mask Oakland is asking for donations to help with this year's fire season, including sending masks and air purifiers to rural and indigenous communities close to the California/Oregon border, and getting masks distributed here in the Bay for fire season and COVID precautions: https://maskoakland.org/give/ They also noted that today is a Spare the Air day in the Bay Area and that we'll likely be seeing some wildfire smoke impacts in the next few days.

They are also looking for volunteers to help distribute masks, and connections with people and organizations in affected areas.

If you haven't heard of Mask Oakland before, they've been around since 2017, distributing masks for wildfire smoke and COVID to homeless people and others in the Bay Area as well as the Sierras. They are extremely effective--to the point that city and county governments were relying on them at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, because they'd already been doing the work.

I canceled a trip to Sac today because of the visible smoky/hazy air east of Mt Diablo this morning. 😦

Is it possible I could retool a #CorsiRosenthalBox against a window and tape down a plastic seal along the rest of the open window to bring fresh air into my apartment without bringing in #WildfireSmoke? Has anyone tried this or have an idea of how this would best work?

We really need a solution for getting fresh air into homes during wildfires when there is no air conditioning. My co2 is at 1343 ppm, and I can’t let in outdoor air. As far as I’ve searched there’s no solution to this but waiting. Miserable.

On opening day in March, I got campground reservations for Banff, starting this Sunday. Today, I decided to cancel due to smoke from the BC wildfires.

This is just an inconvenience to me. I feel for residents of the BC mountains who lost homes and jobs. Wildfires in western US and Canada are a sad reality. #WildfireSmoke

Everyone needs a personal air quality monitoring device that’s portable for vehicles and outside. You would not believe how much pollution comes into cars even with air on recirculate. I have an air purifier for 250 sq ft in my car and it’s still not enough so I carry a P100 respirator plus extra filter replacements for the air purifier jic. We need respirators that handle particulates and fumes (organic pollution) with wildfire smoke, it’s much more than particulates. #AQI #WildFireSmoke
