Interestingly, an index can sometimes become an icon. Take for example 💾. Once upon a time 💾 was an index. It looked like the real thing we saved data on.
Nowadays 💾 is somewhere between an icon (still kinda looks like something we save to) and a symbol, something we all agree means "save" but has no resemblance to an SSD or Google drive 😜

@adam @Johncdvorak
@Johncdvorak great catch on "anthropomorphism", ascribing human characteristics to non-hunan things. @adam you're thinking of skeuomorphism, a (usually digital) representation of something that resembles it's real-world counterpart. #wordsdomatter see also Peirce's sign, symbol, and index triad.
.@adam The phrase "much less" is used to indicate that one is particularly unconcerned about one thing compared to another. For example, if someone were to say, "I'm not worried about the economy, much less the stock market," they are implying that they are even less concerned about the stock market than they are about the economy.... #wordsdomatter
Yesterday, I heard a radio ad for life insurance that began with a woman saying ‘My brother “died suddenly” and now we have to worry about his estate…”
The ad had no background music when the woman said “died suddenly” and it was said slightly slower and with more spacing than the rest of the read. It really stuck out from the usual radio flow.

@SierraKiloBravo These are not 'memes'. The only 'meme' is that they're changing the meaning of 'memes' by naming these so. #WordsDoMatter
