I've said goodbye to #UbuntuStudio. Using #yabridge and #wine I managed to get my DAW up and running for quite a bit, but it never could match the experience on Windows.
Taking advantage of the momentum of having packed the #Reaper #Flatpak, along with the desire to go back to recording some #music, I am now extremely interested in creating an extension of #Yabridge.
I don't know how I'm going to do it, but I'll try to make it happen.

Here is the link to the #yabridge repo, with useful instructions for systems other than #archlinux:
I recently came across a Windows 32/64 #vst #plugin bridge called #yabridge. It lets you EASILY use windows plugins under #GNU/#Linux.
On #archlinux :
- enable 32bit (multilibs) repo in /etc/pacman.conf
- install yabridge:
pacman -S yabridge yabridgectl wine-staging
- add your VST folder(s) to yabridge:
yabridgectl add <path>
- sync yabridge plugins:
yabridgectl sync
- scan for plugins in your DAW and ENJOY :)

Oh, neat. I've been worried a bit how many audio and fx plugins are windows based.
But I've been poking around looking at programming drums in #reaper (or wherever) and via https://powerdrumkit.com I ended up finding #yabridge (https://github.com/robbert-vdh/yabridge). This allows one to drop different audio plugins for windows into a folder, run some `yabridgectl sync` and that's it. It runs the thing in wine in the background and integrates perfectly.
This has also shown me my rhythm needs a bunch of work...
Contrary to what I had planned, I've decided to continue using #Ardour in Windows for the next Opaque Mass album.
Even though #Wine and #Yabridge have allowed me to get #EZDrummer up and running in the low-latency #UbuntuStudio, getting all the guitar amp and effect plugins right introduces another barrier that is keeping me from producing music. I'll keep trying in parallel, but I really want to focus on making music again.

Does anyone know where to go to get support over #yabridge 5 breaking a large number of VSTs?

Another day pushing buttons and turning knobs. Testing #Audiothing native #LinuxVST3 and #CLAP plugins got me excited about their offerings and I couldn't wait for a few of these. Luckily #yabridge + #WINE 7.20 works perfectly! Tape stops incoming...

Ok. So. Forget about #Carla & #Jack. I've now got #Ardour running on #Ubuntu Studio 22.04 using only #yabridge, and it's been a breeze to get everything working, including MIDI for #EZDrummer 2 #VST using #wine64.
