I am going to say it, because someone has to.

The greater diversity of talks in these pandemic times is because the conference is virtual. A lot of people can't afford the expense and effort to travel to other countries just to deliver a single talk. A $2000 trip is equivalent to half a year's rent in Hyderabad, the biggest Telugu-speaking city.

Pleroma isn't currently using a Weblate server for translations.

I have imported the translations for Pleroma-FE into a Weblate instance maintained by @swecha@mastodon.social

Translating the Mastodon frontend into #తెలుగు

No point in running an instance that supports #telugu toots if the user interface is still in English.

In Mastodon language preferences, I see Telugu (తెలుగు) as one of the languages, but not the more popular Hindi (हिन्दी) language.

I remember adding a Telugu translation for Mastodon a while ago. Was it because of that? Or was it because I hosted an instance that officially supports the Telugu language and it picked up languages from instances.social?
