It really is awesome.
Being surrounded by these hills all year, hardly noticing them but seeing the bare patches and the outlines every now and then and recollecting what's up there.
And just one magical night each year, if weather and circumstances allow, you can see generations of continuous effort being passed on one more time.
The flashlights you can see hours later, after the fires are extinguished, are compelling (をかし?) in their own right.

遍照寺の灯籠とともに観る送り火、鳥居形松明は３年ぶりでした
松やにを多く含んだ「じん」が使われる鳥居形松明、他の送り火に比べて色が濃いのが印象的であります
その曼荼羅山に煌々と照る姿、灯籠の揺らめきは直前の大雨が嘘のようで、送り出す人の心を表しているようでありました‥
