People gathered in the plaza at the front of Taipei Main Station on 28 February 1947 in response to violence from the Nationalist authorities.

Tainan Railway Station, with a statue of Gotō Shinpei. Gotō served as Taiwan’s Secretary for Civil Affairs under Governor General Kodama, was Japan’s Chief Scout, and later served as Mayor of Tokyo. He was a driving force behind development of the Taiwanese railway system.

The building shown was destroyed in an air-raid, but the Gushan Post Office was built in the same location after the war.
