I really like the new カネコアヤノ (Kaneko Anyano) album, being a bit noisier than much of her previous more singer-songwriter output. The end of this live version is great.

This is a great list, with a lot of stuff I hadn't heard of (and I listen to a *lot* of Japanese music!).

From the very experimental (KAKUHAN and The Noup are both amazing and totally new to me) via the vaguely ambient (Ooyamada Daisanmyaku, Wakana Ikeda) to slightly left-field pop (Kaho Nakamura) and finally to Hikaru Utada, one of the few more familiar names here.
