Today I learned the word (びよういん, biyouin) which sounds very similar to (びょういん, byouin).
美容院 means beauty salon or hair salon, 病院 means hospital. So correct pronunciation could save your life in Japan 😂

Today's new Japanese word is 鼻歌 (はなうた, hana uta). Literally it means "nose song", but the meaning is "humming".
I thought this was odd when I first came across it, but thinking about it, humming is kind of singing with your mouth closed, so your song comes out of your nose. 😁

I'm constantly surprised by English loan words being adopted in Japanese. Somehow I never thought "diss" (ディス, disu) would be one of them, but here we are 😁

Today I learned the meaning of 合体 as a euphemistic term for sexual intercourse (I only knew it as meaning union). The more you know... 😂

I find it funny that 無茶 means "absurd" in Japanese. 無 means "nothing" and 茶 means "tea", so I always imagine that the sheer idea of no tea is just absurd to a Japanese person.😁

I doubt that this is the real reason 😂... but it helps me remember it.
