I got a new “pilgrimage seal book” (ご朱印帳, goshuinchō) while in Japan recently. These have been used since the Edo Period when you visit famous sites, temples, shrines and such. You get calligraphic stamps (seals) on them.
Since my last book got filled up, I bought a shiny new one at Asakusa Temple in Tokyo, and its first seal too. #japan #tokyo #asakusa #浅草寺 #ご朱印帳
