Tainan Railway Station, with a statue of Gotō Shinpei. Gotō served as Taiwan’s Secretary for Civil Affairs under Governor General Kodama, was Japan’s Chief Scout, and later served as Mayor of Tokyo. He was a driving force behind development of the Taiwanese railway system.

Taihoku Railway Station (present-day Taipei). The photo appears to have been taken prior to 1908, when the statue of Kinsuke Hasegawa was installed out the front - although it is possible the statue is behind the photographer.
