He was on an occupation protest of the Korea Human Rights Commission Office in 2011.The electricity to the office was cut after midnight, to force out the activists with cold. He caught pneumonia and died.

A ceremony was held at 11am in the patriotic martyr's cemetary, and another remembrance was held at 7pm in samgakji.
