It was warmer than expected today so I took today's lunchtime bike ride on my oldest bike, which has a specification which I'd have drooled over as a teenager, but which cost me nothing at all a few years ago.
As usual I was setting no records, covering 14 km in just under 30 minutes. It was fairly difficult to maintain 30 km/h against the headwind on the way out, quite easy to reach 35 km/h with the wind on the way back.
The average speed was largely dictated by my slowing down to do the wussiest of wussy cornering because I don't trust those narrow slick tyres on wet leaves. That's also why I wore a helmet for the first time in more than a decade today, but I kept the right way up and didn't make use of it.
It looks like the weather may be turning nastier again so this may be the last time I ride that bike this year.
Also: Bought nothing of course.
