#1296MHz antenna improved.
Yesterday I got my hands on 2 pcs of about 20m long coax cable, 1/2", one with M+F N-connectors the other without connectors.
So today I had another amateur coming, and we did 3 improvements of the vertical antenna.:
- Increased height of the feed point a bit
- reduced cable loss by 6dB or more.
- The full antenna is now essentially free of the branches of a nearby tree.
Initial result: Improved signals locally due to less obstructions and cable loss.
I am happy.

The plan is getting a preamp mounted near the antenna, and possibly also a 10W PA, so I can exploit the full 10W potential of the station.
As I am using my IC910 I intend to get a small horizontal antenna up, but need a rotator first. This antenna should of course also be with a preamp and possibly a 25W PA near the antenna. That should provide a decent system for 1296MHz.
#1296MHz
Past few days IO have been working on getting operational with a X5000 vertical at my home, on 23cm.
The antenna is mounted quite low, and with a cable loss of 6-10dB (first test).
OZ7IGY (beacon) at 26km running a horizontal antenna is clearly audible despite being behind a hill.
A local QSO, (6km) was quite successful with 10W FM, and signals audible with minimum power out (<200mW).
Now more tests with other stations, and more improvements of the antenna system.

First measure of the Tonna 55 elem. 1.3GHz.
Perfect VSWR on ~1290 MHz, if the weather is nice I dismantle the antenna to redo the measurements outdoors in a free field.
