I've been in a #12step program for decades, and in the last few years, figured out that my "higher power" can be expressed as something that isn't me. I don't know what it is, but I do know what it's not. I don't even know (or care) if it's a "god" or just a "vibe" - and that works for me. So, I'm agnostic. Today I found the #AskJesus AI and listened for a few hours as it answered deep, stupid, and hilarious questions. I've concluded AI Jesus is awesome.

236 followers · 1904 posts · Server mefi.socialSometimes the best way to be of service in #12Step recovery is to cut loose a sponsee / student. Most people simply aren't willing enough to walk away from habits of a lifetime. And you're not doing them any good to baby or enable them.
But some are willing, and those are the ones to sponsor.

Therapy and emotional #12Step work mean I don't relive my #trauma, but I do feel the residue of terror and sadness, especially when the mom gets the belt and we can hear it striking.
Very realistic, except I was typically made to strip naked then wait for my beatings; literal #Torture
