My partner and I have Elven characters. And I have just remembered that we forgot our racial ability, which would have been useful in the first combat! Lol, it’s been a while since we played 13th Age, we are allowed to make mistakes. At least we remembered miss damage.
Mellessil - Ranger from Loth Lorien. Unique thing: In my many years I have written several books for my own use. However many seem to have mysteriously disappeared. (1/?)…

Hoping to start playing our #13thAge #MiddleEarth #GMLess game later, and start #BaldursGate too. A #Roleplaying day.

@TheDreadGazebo @WelshAdventurer I'm interested to hear how this combination works for you and your partner. Will you use icons? Which icons will you select for Middle Earth? #13thAge
Just published a blog post on the things you should be taking from 13th Age into your own games!

The ritual starts an hour before sunset and takes 2 hours. the moon behind the Colossus glows as brightly as the sun, cloaking the party with its shadow that lays over them like a for a second before becoming part of them. All write Colossus’s Shadow on their gear
At some point when they are defending the empire against the Orc lord death will be staved off. And the tenor of the campaign is set.
Don’t give up on annoying kids. Sometimes they bring it.
Traveling with the PCs under an assumed name is the NPC teenage heir to the empire and he is _all in_ on this so the future emperor and the Diabolists daughter capture a mountain goat while the party cleric makes use of Ritual Magic and her Cure Wounds spell to prepare a proper sacrifice. Other party members chipped in personal possessions
(fortunately someone <cough> had written an article in Escalation! On how to do these sorts of clerical religious rituals)
So in last weeks session their path from the far northwest of the empire towards Axis took them past the Northern Colossus: an inexplicable 300’ high occasionally animate statue with what is assumed to be a beneficial agenda. The kids had a great sense of wonder moment and then my borderline disruptive player says “I think we should sacrifice something to it.”
This is, in my mind, BRILLIANT
In my 13th Age game for the library kids we are using the setting as writ, and one of the players is oh so very 13: her One Unique Thing is that her Dark Elf Druid with a Displacer Beast animal companion who shapeshifts exclusively to hell beasts is the Demonologists adopted daughter. She’s also borderline disruptive and always flirting with premise rejection before she backs down
But she’s also a kid in her first game and I don’t like to count anyone out
It was an enormously fun campaign! Props to the fine folks at Pelgrane Press for their excellent work – the first Bestiary is particularly *chef’s kiss*. And props to @robindlaws for his excellent introductory adventure that we used to kick the whole thing off. #13thAge #ttrpg
Oh no, why is the only Crit I roll in 9 sessions of #13thAge against one of my fellow heroes?
We recorded the Might & Mercy season 2 premier tonight. Things went great until they didn't. Catch up on season 1: https://youtu.be/GHwJkBgK7_s?si=QqBvnTQNt4SKDVfC
This week in 13th Age, the PCs met the campaign’s Big Bad: a hill-sized druidic tortoise named Torts the World Ender. He was originally just gonna be the Big Bad's steed, but the players liked Torts so much I didn’t get around to describing the rider. Now it’s just Torts.

This lets the Bard get into the treasure vault, and work out the trap timing enough to get the chest inside, which contains bottles of wine that, when drunk, will lead them through the teleport maze later in the module. (This is a vast simplifying of the original modules insane, no-one-really-figures-this-out number puzzle with codes on the wine bottle labels indicating turns in the teleport maze.)
If there's one thing these kids do, it's out of the Gelatinous Cube thinking!
Using ritual magic and her long established supply of roasting marshmallows, she builds a Marshmallow Cube Mech big enough for her and the party Bard, which they use to enter the vault room and scare the Gelatinous Cube away from the vault door, since they know Cubes don't like to get too close to each other (behavior they have witnessed in the past). To say I didn't expect this is an understatement.
Continuing the 1984 module _Rahasia_ for the kids and there's a pair of rooms that have vaults in the middle of them; one room/vault combo is empty, the other room has a suspiciously clean floor. The party has fought so many Ooze Cultists that the ranger immediately IDs signs of a Gelatinous Cube guarding the vault and pulls everyone back. They contemplate leaving before the Cleric has a brilliant idea....
The Icon system from #13thAge is a surprisingly good world/campaign building tool.
Consider who the important people and factions are and how they interact with each other and the player characters.
It's not exactly groundbreaking, but it's something to consider if you're struggling.

Full overview of the 13th Age adventure I'm writing is done. I call it an overview but it's kind of like a first basic draft with no mechanics and light on details like GM instructions or descriptions. It's about 3700 words, so not like a couple of paragraphs.
Now I can start breaking it down into scenes, name characters, and get to writing it properly. A much longer task, but one made easier by the depths that the overview goes into. #rpgwriting #adventurewriting #13thage

#Numenera is the game i always imagined #GammaWorld could be, back then, with an extensive line of beautifully-illustrated books supporting play across, above, within, and adjacent to an alien Earth over a billion years in the future. if #13thAge hadn't come out the same year, Numenera would be My Game.
