The gates opened and thousands of high European Honey Buzzards had no time to wait + 589 Booted #Eagles (pic), 256 Short-toed #Eagles, 278 Black #Kites, 114 Egyptian #Vultures, 112 Black and 284 White #Storks making the #14km crossing in front of our guests!

With the final count yesterday of over 10,000 White Storks and well over 30,000 Black Kites crossing the #14km divide here of The #Straits we were very much in the #migratory flow to enjoy totally immersive and magical #FlywayBirding

After 5 days of strong #levante wind, today the wind eased to a moderate/strong levante and #Migration was on!

Reams of soaring migratory #Birds passed into The #Straits desperate to journey on into Africa despite the gusting wind. Some opted to return and try another day, but many - too impatient to wait any longer - powered out into the #14km Straits.

Black Kites, Short-toed & Booted Eagles, Montagu’s Harriers & swirling masses of White Storks!

35,000 soaring migratory Birds were logged!

With 3,487 Black Kite crossing The #Straits yesterday we had news from Dakar, Senegal 🇸🇳 where over 3,000 where counted passing !

Today a strong levante wind may delay all but the most determined to cross the #14km divide between Europe and Africa !

We’ve been among the #migration on the #FlywayHighway here in The #Straits with groups of White Storks and Black Kites making the #14km crossing to Africa while Short-toed Eagles arrive in anticipation of their own crossing.

Also this striking ”North African Buzzard” and a Lanner Falcon whizzed through!

Our guests first full day here yesterday in The #Straits and we made sure we positioned ourselves right beneath the flow of soaring #migratorymayhem!

Booted and Short-toed Eagles, streams of Black Kites, Western Osprey, Montagu’s Harriers and White Storks poured through the challenging #14km bottleneck while Common and Pallid Swifts and masses of #Hirundines plugged the gaps !

Our group was in the absolute thick of it yesterday here on the #FlywayHighway !

Thousands of Black #Kites poured overhead as hundreds of Short-toed and Booted Eagles powered across the #14km divide with Egyptian Vultures and both Black and White #Storks, Eurasian #Sparrowhawks, Western Marsh and Montagu's #Harriers, Western #Osprey and a single Red Kite!

...And we were right in the flow of #MigrationAction !

Yesterday in just one hour of observation 1,142 Black Kite battled the #14km of The #Straits, creating a #milanada alongside Egyptian Vulture, Short-toed Eagles and White Storks.

Over 300 Short-toed #Eagles piling into Europe via the #14km of The #Straits here this morning, ahead of the rain!

Alongside them some of the first Booted Eagles and more Black #Storks, White Storks and Black Kites!

Whilst this was flowing overhead a Fin Whale passed offshore!
