There is no life-threatening discrimination against women in Japan, says Mio Sugita, the country's vice minister for internal affairs and communications.

Sugita, a legislator from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, made the comment on 30 Nov 2022 while she was elaborating on her controversial 2014 remark. At that time, she said: "There is no discrimination against women in Japan."
