I promised my opera buddy that I'd take pictures of my finished #1780sLoki dress and I'm going to see her for the first time since November so I guess I may as well take a full costume picture (even though I still need to attach the breeches buckles).

My toxic trait is starting a new sewing project before finishing the current one. Every time I take time off, my brain wants to make a new pair of stays. Still need to finish the buckles on my #1780sLoki costume and I'm planning a Westley/Man In Black/Dread Pirate Roberts outfit for my birthday in January so I need a black tunic...... But this Augusta Stays pattern is just so ~exciting~ so I've now printed, traced, and cut out all the pieces.

#1780sLoki update: I made the skirt over the Thanksgiving holiday, and I am very proud of my pleating. I also decided to add some hooks and thread loops to the front bodice and am halfway through. But alas, when sewing the skirt on Sunday, I accidentally pricked my thumb and I can't hold a needle until it heals. On antibiotics for 10 days, lol. But next week, I should be able to finish the bodice loops and then shorten my breeches.

I have finished sewing on all the skirt panels and pinning the hem... And before I do any pleating or gathering at this waistline, I've got 107 inches/8.92 feet of hem to sew. This is going to be a big skirt...

I have been on PTO for eight hours, am still working on the skirt of my #1780sLoki dress, have a Renaissance tunic I want to make for my birthday in January.... And I can feel in my bones that I'm only weeks away from deciding I need to try to make another pair of stays.
Note that basically every time I get bored or antsy, I decide to make stays. I think I've made.... Three so far during COVID?

#1780sLoki update: I'm still working on the skirt (just sewed on a skirt panel, only to discover that it was upside down, so I had to use the seam ripper), but I've added boning to the front bodice and made a split rump from a pillow and fabric scraps. Also, I repadded my dress form again, so I think the stays are fitting better than before.

Sunday #sewing realization: if I don't like the way the bodice on my #1780sLoki dress wrinkles, I can just.... add a boning channel? It's allowed?
This is growth, y'all. I'm still learning, but I think that problem solving is proof I'm becoming a better sewist.

I've finished the bodice of my #1780sLoki costume, and I can finally make the skirt. After Halloween, I attached the sleeves (they were basted/pinned for Halloween pics), redid the shoulders, added the back neck facing, and finished off the neckline. Next steps: finish making a split rump and make the skirt.
*Before these photos I removed some stuffing from the front of my dressform; I'm really having issues with stuffing it up to my size without making it literally too hard for stays.

Ok #HistoricalSewing Mastodon, I'm making a thread of my #1780sLoki. This was my Halloween costume, but I had so many fit issues that I actually didn't complete the dress in time. I'm now trying to finish it so I can wear it to a con with my sister next year.
Here is Halloween night @ my sister's house.
I made: chemise, stays, breeches, bodice
Necklace: Dames à la Mode earring on a ribbon
Ouroboros ring: Trollbinde on Etsy
Stockings: American Duchess
Shoes: vintage shoe clips on loafers
