The 1929 version of The Letter might not be as good as the 1940 version and it doesn't have Bette Davis but it is pre-code so it's much more salacious and sexually honest and Jeanne Eagels' performance is outrageous. It's worth a look.

Lady of the Night (1925), a 1925 silent film starring Norma Shearer. She plays two roles (inevitably a good girl and a bad girl). A good low-key subtle romantic drama. Worth seeing if you want to know why Norma Shearer was such a big deal.

William Wyler's Hell’s Heroes (1929). Three outlaws in the desert find themselves saddled with a baby. Saving themselves will be hard enough. A visually impressive western. Not a bad movie but much too sentimental for my tastes.
