#TodayILearned that saxophone player Paul Desmond created 'Take Five', Dave Brubeck Quartet's greatest hit. He specified in his will that all proceeds from it would go to the Red Cross after his death.
His rare gift for improvised counterpoint and his ability to produce extremely high notes on alto sax made him one of the all-time greats.
