I sewed some patches into my jacket. One is a little heart on my lapel. The other is a cat on the inside. #1L

It's so fucked that lawyers complain about ancient laws that don't make sense but enforce them, and at the same time ardently oppose people trying to figure out their own ways to live. It didn't have to make sense 400 years ago. Life doesn't have to make sense. #1L

A "nonrefundable deposit" is a fucking fee and I remain dying on this hill. #1L

It's actually so fucking frustrating that I can't go to the school to do my work during the times when I feel most ready to do so.

I might be the only one the campus closure affects like this, but my experience is valid and "we will have cops sweep the building and lock the door every night" is not. #1L

Just throw together 3 hours of audio for the class in one day, why don't I? #1L

I made a big comment about how things don't need to be copyrightable in order to be meaningful, using a lot of examples today. No shit, everybody clapped, lol. #1L

The irony of being in a stressful situation is that everyone thinks this malaise is related to law school, but it's actually brain chemistry and irresponsibility. Not something they can help with. Often not even something they can relate to. #1L

If there's one thing I wish I was more "normal" about, it may just be my unwillingness to accept pointless praise from people who literally profess to like me.

I don't even believe in a separate class of actions which "deserve" praise, really, but I personally don't find it euphoric to receive it simply for doing what I think is ordinary. #1L

I worked on a sewing project while in class today. My jacket needs serious mending, especially around the pockets.

The room clapped when I put the jacket on because they thought I had finished. It was so uncomfortable. #1L

@lethargilistic Agreed. My #1L experience years ago never really took a critical lense to much of social context of what was being read. A lot of the time, I had to rely on fellow National Lawyers Guild members to have those conversations.

(Slight aside: as someone who isn't a practicing lawyer, the only time I remember having such a debate in class was ironically over a case in my Crim casebook which ruled, "no, you can't boobytrap your farmhouse with a shotgun, even if there's a sign.)
