So, you have a bunch of apps on your mobile phones (average is about 30 apps worldwide). You expect them to "call home" from time to time to let the devs know about usage, feedback, etc.. Right? How many times per week do you think they collectively do so? 300? 3,000? 30,000?

Well, on my Android phone, they have tried to track me over **126,000 times** over 7 days!

On iOS, tracking protection is your friend (to an extent). On Android, not so..

It's obvious that most of my issues are *First world problems*. Some are a tad more serious than just losing some shoes but I'm part of a world-wide lucky minority that doesn't need to worry about eating, my safety or staying warm.

These are blessings we never really count. It takes a disaster in a faraway place to remind us we are the lucky ones.

I sometimes stop and think about this, probably not often enough.

Like many people, no doubt, I am very conflicted about the story of this teenage girl that left London to join IS in Syria. There are so many ways to look at it, all of them are terrible. Nothing is ever black or white, but here, they are so many shades of grey.. Vulnerable, groomed, naïve yes. But also, calculated, driven, turning a blind eye.
