Be a by-election in #Scotland now - interesting to see impact of both current MPs behaviour & #SNP leadership on voter behaviour - gut feeling is #labour will be disappointed since #independence is not a short term political issue but a permanent desire of a fair proportion of electorate - if Labour do not win now cannot expect to get many Scottish MPs in #2024GE

I think whole #voterSuppression overstated - allow use of proof-of-age, student & other cards younger people carry & the issue is dead (apart from additional millions in cost of elections)

The idea a local election covering less than half the electorate 18 months before is a reliable guide to #2024GE is for the birds - uncertainty around estimate IMO makes it of little value.

FWIW I think #labour will get a majority over 50 & under 200 - but what do I know?

Nah - you are not looking at where the LibDems made those gains - they are in the SW where it is always #libDem or #toriesOut

Had Scotland, London and Wales been holding locals there would have been many more #labour gains

In any event, a net loss for the Tories of over 1,000 - after they lost 1,600 in 2019 - puts them on the exit route in #2024GE

With #London not voting - almost 40% of voters here are #labour according to polls - and Scotland (where the #SNP in trouble will boost #labour ) and Wales a labour heartland not voting either, their national share of the vote is understated in these #local results

Ignore #Marr & co suggesting no majority will happen in #2024GE - labour are set to win barring accidents

Well we will see - there is some road to travel before the next #holyrood election - we have the #2024GE to come when #labour hope to increase their representation for #Scotland by several hundred percent (given at present they only have one #labour MP in #Scotland !)

Long term permanent support for independence is over 35% and rising with younger generations - barring some new factor (climate change?) changing that I cannot see the SNP losing local power.

#brexit is done - we are out. The path to #rejoinEU is long and may well be impassable. It is not something on which to hang your appeal to be given a 5 year term. There are so many other things #toriesOut have messed up I'd leave that one alone and just undertake to suture the gaping wound in the #2024GE

I don't want another 2! 7 if they win #2024GE

Frankly I will be past caring in 13 yrs time (do residents of care homes notice their living conditions much?) but I am not sure we can survive one more #toriesOut win with the current crop - we could end up like Israel or Hungary.

So I am less than keen on anything that looks like a turn-off for the casual voter = and I think without carefully preparing the ground whilst in power #PR comes into that category

Politics moves quicker than that...... but I doubt any party will promise more than to optimise #EU relationship in their #2024GE manifesto - so the earliest any #rejoin commitment is likely to be the following election maybe 2028
