Also, here's a version from last century. Looks like they've been a tradition in Oz for quite some time.
Would having them better-presented and cuter make them more or less nerve-wracking to eat? 🤔 #20thCenturyAdvertising #Australia

This is one of the most disturbing pancake-arts in my files so of course it's a favorite of mine.

@sajan 😍 Thanks, Friend.
It's been in a few other works and it's originally from here:
I mean, look at these diverse and alternately demure, voluptuous, and stoic creatures. Arrayed so gracefully across their tasteful and muted 1930s plaid cloth. You've got your Lemon Snap, Ginger Snap, Lorna Doone, Social Tea, Famous Chocolate, National Zwieback, an eponymous sugar wafer, Vanilla Wafer, Graham Cracker, Priscilla Butter Wafer, ONE damn Oreo, Fig Newton, Holland Rusk, and finally a Macaroon Wafer.
Oh, and here's some 1950s Eames chairs rolling dramatically across a desert or something.
A modest New Year's gift for my piano-maven friends on Fedi. <3
Front cover of sheet music from the early 1940s.
"Down the Road A Piece" across top, marquee-style. Red background with stylized grand piano lid holding descriptive text, including "8 to the bar BOOGIE WOOGIE piano solo series." Row of tiny keys faintly visible below the huge, angled lid: creates the effect of opening a greeting card.

A giant bird descends from Heaven, wielding carving gear against an alarmed little boy, Dream Warrior-style. Also Junior's room is redwood-brown, which probably doesn't help.

If you don't need visual descriptions or warnings, here's a whole album of adoptable/downloadable #20thcenturyadvertising #men looking stiff and peculiar:
If you need any pineapples in #20thCenturyAdvertising I've always got some in pres-- I mean, in reserve.

Ah, yes. The stiff, unwieldy dry-clean-only tea gown, the disdainful expression, the almost-Vanderbilt coiffure, and finally: holding the cup and saucer like you're about to wade ribs-deep through starving peasantry. By coincidence, this is also me every morning just before I arrive on the Fedi:
Anyone want some cute 1950s Modern flotsam to start their day? I've got round or oval tissue-y ceiling fixtures, spiky or wicker wall clocks, a BBQ that doesn't even look like it should be able to stand, a chair that when in profile sorta' resembles half a sock monkey's head, and some lovely sleek flatware: all in luscious black and white. (1953 & 1955)
Apologies in advance for lack of image descriptions. Not really practical for this many pictures. But I just spruced up and added some old-timey canning ads to an earlier set I made. Thought you might enjoy seeing them:
