@surefire I'm too cheap to set myself up with a tow rig, so I race at Sonoma which is the only track that is reasonably close enough for me to street drive my extremely shitty '97 Passat to :)

Occasionally I also get a drive in the Perplexes is300, that team is totally awesome, but they've gotten faster and racier which has relegated me to being a very occasional alternate driver behind much more singularly focused and faster drivers.

Found this while walking the dogs with SWMBO yesterday and I commented that it'd be fun for #24HoursOfLemons she, without skipping a beat said, "make a note of the address and you can mail them a letter that begins, 'as a lover of shitty cars, I would like to buy yours'"

@Basmitharts toyo has been making nice sticky road tires for not too much money for a while. Though I might pick up a set of Yokohama's next go 'round because they do a free tire raffle for #24hoursoflemons cars that run their tires.

@mose @Basmitharts there are a couple of Honda CR-Vs that run in #24hoursoflemons and they are totally C class competitive. Basically just fat Civics, they have either b20 or k24 engines depending on the year and get a ton of cheap aftermarket bolt on support.

@lewis I've got a friend who ran a 323 GTX in #24HoursOfLemons for a while. Apparently a real hoot to drive, but completely terrible to buy parts for. Also needing to shift left-handed while driving a RHD car proves challenging for a lot of Americans :)

I just found photos of the very first #24HoursOfLeMons car I raced! Totally forgot just how terrible this car really was, lol. If I remember correctly, it was a 97 or 98 Buick Century with some sort of V6 under the hood. If you look closely, you can see a ratchet strap holding the hood down. How that passed tech, I'll never know. But, it was the most comfortable "race car" I've ever been in, tbh.

@Basmitharts The best driving car I've driven was my friend's C6 Corvette during a track day. He had a very mild supercharger on it, big sticky tires, and it was fairly effortless to go fast in, and I just loved that.

The absolute best car I've ever driven, because it led to me meeting my now wife, was a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP in LeMons. This was back in 2010, and we met at the Capitol Offense race at Summit Point raceway.
