Deadsend & The Bawdy Badger Tavern
"The main reason I haven’t posted anything here the last couple of days is I have been enjoying working in my notebook.
Apart from the drafts below, I’m working on an NPC Encounter list, together with a gallery of personalities around Deadsend and the tavern..."

Birth of a town – Fenport (Rogues’ Drift RPG)
"After the first ideas, I have started to develop more aspects of Rogues’ Drift. The centre piece is still The Bawdy Badger. The tavern is located in Deadsend district of Fenport, just northwest of The Stenches (thankfully, west is where the sea wind most often blows from, but not always) and south of the Docks, not too far from..."

Site 'launched' at https://roguesdrift.wordpress.com/
First thoughts jotted down..
Question is if it is better to post in a thread like this or just do separate posts with a particular tag?

Thanks to @kensanata I recently found an RPG system that looks really neat. It's called 'Dead Simple' and the 8th "expanded" edition is 20 pages. It uses a d20 and looks very playable. The site offer different settings, apart from pure fantasy, as well.
There is also a 2d6 version, Lamplight 3rd ed.
I haven't tried it yet, but this is likely the one I'm going to use in my new "pocket hobby project".
Only thing with Lamplight is you are to roll low, which feels a bit like 'bad mojo' for an old Classic Traveller (CT) GM/player like me. 🙃
Another person that has inspired me with their #dungeon23 project is @ordinal . So as part of this project, much of my ideas and concept work will be on paper. I have a thin Moleskine Cahier Journal with squared pages and a 2.5mm 3B Koh-I-Noor 5905 clutch pencil as my main tools, things that I always have me anyway.

What was the first _Fantasy_ TTRPG to use 2d6 for skills/task resolution?
I know Traveller for Sci-Fi but I'm not sure the origin of it on the fantasy side. Or did the #OSR just take it from Traveller?
Welcome @BrianBloodaxe Traveller? Troika? Interesting, so how is Troika going? #2d6 @phf @frotz @PresGas @kensanata
Read Classic Traveller's Adventure 7 Broadsword yesterday. It's a freakin' multi scenario war game campaign. Referees are advised to have players take up the roles of opposing forces.
Classic Traveller can be so many things, from rules light, casual or even modern PbtA'ish narrative RP to mystery solving to full blown shell out all your money for minis and cover your ping pong table with brown paper war gaming. Amazing.
@kensanata since Classic Traveller seems to be on your agenda, what are your thoughts on it's combat system?
I feel the strong urge to house rule in a much simpler system, as I don't think I want to focus on combat too much, and find all this table lookup business quite awkward. Just opposed #2d6 rolls maybe? somewhat like in your Just Halberds?

flash of insight after ruminating on #2d6 #gumshoe and #iconsrpg :
Opposed 2d6 rolls are a great simple mechanic, but why not substitute one d6 with an attribute, skill or trait level in the range of 1-6? Less swingy results, meaningful attributes, and shifts of success come in a range of 1 to 10 - not to bad of match for d6 hit dice.
I wonder if this would qualify as a rules set in a post?
"Traveller is Old School/Rules Light. Mostly conversation between Referee and Players, the Referee adjudicating rolls and outcomes on the fly."

I like that approach, still it presupposes character levels which some games don't have.
The magic systems in Knave and Maze rats are also pretty close. Doing something syntax based - combining magical nouns and verbs - is probably the way to go
@kensanata do I see another #2d6 mechanic? and yay, it's by @linkskywalker
