Another #goodread... Black By Design by The Selecter's Pauline Black. Not just for the 2-Tone fans, this excellent book is a potted social history of the latter half of the 20th and early 21st century told via Pauline's experiences - and all the things wrong in the UK. Not always easy reading but what a strong, talented woman.

In de #UK heeft de punk ondertussen al plaats geruimd voor de #newwave en #nowave en een nieuwe hype waar #TheClash en #TheSlits ook al door #reggea invloed op aansturen.
#2toneska en #rocksteady, de ska was sneller en de Rocksteady wat trager en bands als #TheSpecials en ook #madness vermengden punkinvloeden met de twee reggearitmes. Vooral in de underground was er een ganse subcultuur ontstaan, waar ook weer de nodige modetrend op volgde en een heel linkse cultuur.

Vooral in de underground was er een ganse subcultuur ontstaan, waar ook weer de nodige modetrend op volgde en een heel linkse cultuur. De bands kwamen vooral voort als tegenbeweging van skinheads die de punkscene verziekten en vooral in '79 opkwam tegen de verrechtsing van de politiek.
