I'm wondering about the #mapping of #stories and the different versions that are told over time by different people in different places.

My own focus is the stories that are told about the #itineraries of #artworks, called #provenance.

But when I look at this #map of #iceberg #movement from Peter T Fretwell, I'm inspired about #dataviz possibilities for alternative histories of artworks (of which only one is true, the others false)

For the #30DayMapChallenge "Movement" something I did a year ago was work out road distances to the nearest hospital for every SA2 statistical area in New Zealand. I deliberately did this only using open data that could be reused (big nod to Open Street Route Mapping) so that people thinking about health inequality and covid threats could have a set of spatial mobility measures that could be shared freely to help research

Day 21: Data: Kontur Population Dataset @KonturInc

A two part reminiscence:

For #30DayMapChallenge day 20 "My Favourite..." I would like to nostalgically bring back a map I made for this event in 2019 of my Twitter followers that I was very pleased with what I acheived.

I looked at doing it last year, but all the public health stuff I'd been doing meant that my account had grown to big to be computational tractable as a quick #rstats project, and over here it wouldn't be ethical to robotically scrape the servers without permission. 1/2

was a key thing for me cleanly clipping the edges of the hemisphere given the country boundary shapes being applied to the hemisphere.
