Partendo dal seme di #Unix di Ken #Thompson, molti sistemi operativi nel tempo hanno preso forma, e a parte le infinite distribuzioni #Linux che ci vengono proposte ogni giorno, esistono altri rami della genealogia di UNIX che stanno facendo la storia dell'informatica oggi, che è importante conoscere.
Il 19 giugno, il #sistema operativo #FreeBSD ha festeggiato i 30 anni di esistenza. Questa data viene conteggiata dalla creazione del #fork 4.3BSD basato sul set di #patch non ufficiale #386BSD, che aveva lo scopo di fornire un #sistema #operativo veloce, stabile e sicuro per le macchine i386.

Today on the Unix Heritage Society mailing list, Clem Cole reports that Bill Jolitz, the eccentric programmer who forklifted BSD to the 386, passed away recently. No other information yet. RIP.
