And I did order a BM40 47 key #ortholinear #40percent keyboard to accompany the "new" Dell tablet. This time with #Gateron Brown Pro v2 pre-lubed switches. These are well invested 5ct markup compared to regular switches.

Any programmers use 40% keyboards here? I'm thinking of downsizing, but I feel like I would miss all the symbol keys. How do you manage? What board do you have?

Hmmm people just seem to fall from #Toronto balconies after interactions with #police …weird. There are at least 3 such occurrences since 2020

What’s going on in #toronto ?? Seems like Toronto police are killing suspects , throwing them off balconies, and when SIU investigates their own officers, they find that the police did nothing wrong.
Police kill someone, The Police then investigate themselves and say nothing happened. But at least 3 people are dead?
They just slipped down the stairs? Google #40percent of Cops

the clever-engineering bit of the bm43a keyboard is that it implements a #40percent layout with a split spacebar using key widths that are a subset of a standard ansi/iso set and still fits into common 40% cases
it even forces the bottom row to have a ~¼key offset to achieve this
so if you're going for cheap, don't care that your enter key says "caps lock", and can tolerate reorienting your bottom row slightly you have plenty of options for keycaps
finally got my #40percent soldered together last night
decided to save my burnt orange switches and nice caps for a planck, atreus, or jorian next year, and go with surplus hardware i had knocking around
pros… almost
- fun colored caps… derpy font
- usbc… all my c ports are occupied
- doubleshot… no backlight
- rgb led underlit… obscured by the case
- solid, sturdy… but too heavy to travel
- quiet cherry mx clears… but so scratchy
pros
- #qmk firmware
- small(er)

this holiday season i'm giving my coworkers the gift of me typing on a much less clackity-ass keyboard
im just test fitting these SA caps, nothing is soldered yet. thats why theyre all derpy
it's a kprepublic bm43a with high profile aluminium case and mounting plate. testing with kailh speed heavy tactile burnt orange switches
i got it intending to travel with it but i underestimated the heft of it. it would be like carrying a brick around in my backpack
