The Damned Don’t Cry (1950), a delightfully overheated noir-tinged Joan Crawford melodrama. She becomes a fashion model and naturally winds up as a gangster's moll. A fine movie although Crawford was fifteen years too old for the part.

The Ghost Ship (1943) directed by Mark Robson is seen as one of the lesser of the 1940s Val Lewton-produced RKO horror films. That may be true but it's still a very fine visually impressive shipboard horror film.

Black Friday (1940), a surprisingly successful horror/gangster movie mix, with Karloff as a mad scientist doing a brain transplant that goes wrong. Bela Lugosi has a disappointing minor role. Outlandish but clever central idea handled well.
