I'm still wondering if #45drives is worth the investment? If I remember well, #Linus (#LTT) said it was too expensive for what it is, but for the amount of data I need to store, it looks extremely tempting.

Just need to win the Lotto. Planned for this weekend. :-)

Came back from the #NissanAriya_e4orce launch event with just under 900 GB of video and found a new 2TB of footage on my desk from @BeanieCam, who spent Thursday and Friday filming the B roll for the #KiaEV6GT.

That’s basically 3TB in four days. This week we have a review to film (another 1.5 TB I’d guess…)

Since I have not perfectly figured out how to get the UPS daemon running on the company server and our #f150lightning home backup system is not working yet, I’ve been turning off our company #45drives server when a storm is likely at night.

It does mean the usual night time backups don’t happen, but it avoids hours of pain the next day when we discover 300+ TiB was unceremoniously dumped during a write and a power cut.

@rockylinux well, for a start, I’m thankful that it helped me put together a #mastodon #server for #transportevolved - which means I can host @show and other staff accounts here at home. I’m also thankful for the servers that run the TE video archive, which also run #linux on our #45drives units.

I’m also #thankful for #homeassistant and the army of developers who devote hours to #opensource #github repositories to enable a smarter, safer home!
