This past month I have been wondering if I chose the right #CMS (#WordPress). I'm getting more and more intrigued by the likes of static site generators like #Hugo or #Jekyll + #GithubPages. And then I discovered #512KBclub and #1MBclub which highlights the unnecessary bloat on many websites. My blog is currently at 809Kb (uncompressed)...

Using WordPress is not as smooth as I like; I often don't feel like writing due to the clunkiness of the interface.

What CMS do you use for your #blog?

I styled the page to my liking, and it looks way better than what I’ve started with! :D I have also started to ‘rescue’ my posts I had published on #Medium some time ago: Luckily, they allow setting canonical links, so I hope my posts will show up in the search results with links leading to my blog.

Next on my to-do list: subset the fonts so I don't get disqualified from #512KBClub :blobcatcool:

I redesigned my #website! Its still a #WorkInProgress but its going good.

I wrote #blogpost detailing some of the changes, I added a background image which is animated (it can be disabled for the sake of #accessibility with and without #js), changed some #CSS for many sections of the site, etc.

And its still quite light but I am no longer in the green team of the #512kbClub kbClub :blobcatsadlife:

Hm, what would take for my website to get into the #512kbClub?

Right now my homepage is 970.69 KB according to Firefox, but that's a shaky estimation since I tend to mix in IFrames for my #peertube content and ocasionally some images that I produce myself.

Other article pages (even when they have images!) go like 78.93 KB, comfortably under the requirements.

Should I change the Peertube embeds for simple links to the videos instead? I always wondered about that.
