I recently watched the movie Fanboys, set in the 90s about a group that try to break into Skywalker Ranch and see Phanton Menace early. One person sees it and says, "You gotta keep the flaws, crappy effects, real puppets. That's what makes it so good, you know?" That's how I feel about . I can easily argue that is a more accessible & elegant game, but my group still retells stories about ridiculous events from incongruent rules. Perhaps it's nostalgia, but we haven't found that with 5e.

was the first official adventure to use as a setting (unless you count some of the 5e conversions in ). My Sunday group enjoyed our campaign which combined Ghosts with , our last DnD home campaign before moving to 😊

I ran my 1st in-person session of last weekend using the prison break adventure I've been working on. It exceeded even my high expectations. The group was all used to and all the rules and apps, and by the end we were all enjoying the paper character sheets stained with food, the light rules, the sheer player shenanigans. Imagination ruled the day. 10/10, will never run the Hasboro game again.

Things to steal from BG3 for your tabletop D&D game:
* Allow Inspiration to accrue
* Come up with a couple triggers for earning inspiration based on the backgrounds at your table.
* Communicate those flags to the table so everyone can share in giving rewards.
* Declare DCs before players roll, so they can make informed decisions about currency expenditure (and to force you, as DM, to be more deliberate in what your rolls mean)

Day 5: A personal change you felt in your games in the passing year

1) I did not play less games, but completely abandoned running campaigns (for now!). After a fun, but unsuccessful attempt to revisit using the rules instead of / i mostly ran one and few shots.
2) I also started to play with great people I met on Mastodon. Turns out, this is a fantastic place to find engaged players and turn social media contacts into friends 😮
