A good design session with @Tregenza . Working on the final encounter for Tested on Elementals. Our metric for the difficulty was: if the party arrives here at half resources, then they should have a 50/50 chance of success.

Both amazed and unsurprised that having a solid requirement made writing the encounter easier. With set mechanic and narrative goals, we were able to find a solution that didn't compromise.

Tested on Elementals has developed an interesting looping play style.

If the elementals, fail to reach the end goal, they're recaptured by the pharmaceutical company, putting them back in the laboratory they just escaped from.

Which they can escape from again and then run the adventure again.

Definitely going to give them a little experience to spend when this happens. To lean fully into the rogue like format of the game.
