that influenced me

1. D&D. Changed my life. But also: been there, done that!
2. 3rd ed. Gritty, brutal and powerful. Plus Glorantha
3. Doing things in a cool way should be better, not harder.
4. Player facing rules.
5. . Open world urban fantasy
6. Simpler is better and more hard-hitting.
7. . Focused play, generational play. The "why" of what you do is more important then the "how". Epitome of rpgs

that influenced me.

1. . My First and most played game (with 300+) quick and low prep, Fiction First.

2. . the rules are narrative
3. . I like especially Create an Advantage action.
4. . Improv your play
5. . Dense Characters and History, Mystery...
6. . Icon is simple but cool idea.

7. . Quick, Low Prep, Logic First. But there are many Wierd Science. no need to be combat focused, But it still can be fun.

that did the most to shape my tastes/expectations

1. , my first as a player
2.
3.
4. , my first as a GM
5. , the first GM-less worldbuilding game I've played, which I still want to hack into something less high-fantasy-centric/RNG-based
6. , my favorite cyberpunk TTRPG and PbtA game
7. , the first Firebrands game I've played (and the first to use playing cards as a resolution mechanic)

- Das Schwarze Auge (You always remember your first)
- GURPS (When I still thought there was one system that should do everything)
- Ars Magica (You always remember your longest)
- Wraith: the Oblivion (Because ghosts, obviously)
- Fate Core (First open source game)
- Apocalypse World (first system that runs itself)
- Microscope (The one game I'd take to the lonely island - zero prep, no dice, no masters)

Show me yours, dice.camp folks!

: I'm including LARPs and solo games in my list because of how and what I design.

-Bluebeard's Bride
-Changeling: the Lost
-Dreaming the Devil
-GODTALKER NOBODY
-Screwing The Crew
-KULT
-Planescape (I will argue until the end of my days that it's bigger than D&D)

Honorable mentions go to specific books: Heroes of Horror (D&D 3.5), Second Sight (CofD 1e), and Innocents (CofD 1e).

Okay. that influenced me!

- VERY formative for me in learning to GM
- opened up more genres for me
- how I discovered the joy of players defining things
- got me more into collaborative scenario creation
- my introduction to GMless games
- opened up more effective ideas for prompt-based improv for me
(in general) - got me thinking in terms of the story driving the rolls instead of vice/versa

that influenced me:

1. BECMI D&D - the first I played

2. GURPS - first exposure to point-based system, also first exposure to min-maxing

3. TORG - still my canonical example of "fantastic setting, horrible ruleset"

4. Mage: the Ascension - first exposure to "the rules don't tell you everything, the players get to make it up"

to know me better:

I'm going to leave off the ones I wrote, but really really: read the ones I wrote if you want to know me better. Sufficiently Advanced and Sorcerously Advanced, especially.

Anyway, games that say things about me:
1. Werewolf: the Apocalypse
2. Glitch
3. Blue Rose
4. Continuum
5. Exalted
6. Mage: the Ascension, especially the crazier stuff from 2e.
7. Atomic Robo
