@abductedRhino @fluepke Archive in Form von EXE-Dateien auszuliefern dürfte ziemlich überflüssig sein. Seit Jahren gibt es das quelloffene Tool "7-ZIP", das "normale" Archive sogar mit AES-256-Verschlüsselung erstellen kann.

Started using https://github.com/ttionya/vaultwarden-backup docker container to backup my self-hosted bitwarden / vaultwarden container.

It uses rclone to upload files to various file upstreams, and runs on cron. Additionally, it supports encrypting archive either with zip or 77zip, with header encryption, which is great. It can also ping, and dispatch email on success and failures.

It’s such an understatement to say that a good file #compression app can really be a lifesaver. I have a few of #Sims4 document folder backups on an external drive, and they’re each, like, 10GB. Using #Keka for compress then into #7z files on max compression mode gets them down to 6GB. That’s 4GB EACH just compressed away. In total, that’s gonna be 16GB of extra free space I can use all because I ran a folder I don’t regularly use through an app. This shit rocks.

7z a -r -pABC12345 -mhe=on ../test.7z *

a=添加files到archive
-r递归子文件夹
-pABC12345 密码设置为ABC12345，最好设置20个字符以上
-mhe=on 让文件名也加密，因为听说zip别人可以通过一个明文文件破解，所以不能让别人看到文件名去找明文文件
../test.7z，将压缩后文件放到这个压缩文件夹上一级目录，防止 压缩时冲突

@babyfangs Depends what you mean by more #secure and #privacy focused: secure as in wanting an additional layer of encryption by the provider (zero knowledge - including metadata) or more privacy (not knowing you use #7z etc?

I assume you use two different passwords for the encryption process?

Makes me wonder if #storing #encrypted data say on a #Google drive is good enough? Or it's better to store it on a more #privacy focused data #storage.

As my current method to #store private stuff is:
AES crypt the file.
#7z the files so it's a group.
Then #AES crypt the #archive.

Then I upload it to say Google drive or one drive.

But the question is should I actually instead be uploading this to say a more #secure privacy focused one? Which is often more expensive. While say one drive is pretty cheap. Same for the many others online.

This is mainly private documents that one should keep but it's better to never have it stolen and read. Especially read. As it got private details

Encountering a #rar or #7z file is a surefire way to make me extremely irritated at computer people. There is NO reason to distribute files intended for others in those formats when #zip is supported ootb on every OS.
