@certbund #Protip: #7zip als Alternative ist davon nicht betroffen gewesen und anders als #WinRAR kostenlos und lizenzkonform unbegrenzt lange nutzbar!

Es necesario que actualizes tu winrar, pero te recomiendo que lo des instales.

Mejor usa 7zip: Es opensource, no necesita licencia, y funciona mejor.

Any #compression experts here?

I compressed an archive of nearly identical files (snapshots of the list of my tabs) in two ways.

First, as .tar.zstd, and that gave me 325MiB.

Then, I used #7zip with #lzma2, and got only 35MiB. Much closer to what I expected.

What gives? Is #tar stringing files together in a way that prevents #zstd from detecting duplicate data across files?

7-Zip-Kenner:innen: Ich möchte, dass nach einem Entpackvorgang direkt das Verzeichnis geöffnet wird, in dem entpackt wurde.
Im Beispiel wird über das Kontextmenü des Windows-Explorers ein Unterverzeichnis "test" angelegt. Die Dateien werden dort entpackt. Direkt danach soll sich - ohne weiteren Klick - dieser Ordner öffnen und die entpackten Dateien anzeigen im Explorer.

Das überrascht mich - iOS kann inzwischen AES256 direkt "entzippen"?
Könnt Ihr das bestätigen?
1. Datei mit 7zip verschlüsselt (AES256-Modus).
2. Datei auf Nextcloud geladen.
3. Nextcloud-Pfad in iOS-Dateien-App geöffnet.
4. Passwort wird abgefragt und entschlüsselt.
Früher musste ich da den Umweg über Filebrowser oder andere Tools nehmen.

Advice for anyone who is concerned enough about the #DotZip TLD, to want to replace the .ZIP archive file format with an alternative.

Please don't pick the (commercial, closed-source) RAR.

RAR software is Windows-only. Any software for handling .rar files on any other OS is unofficial.

7Zip is free to use forever, not just for the trial period.

Bonus: there will never be a .7z TLD.
