I recently digitized a bunch of #old #8mm films my Dad had taken over the course of his life. The oldest was from 1939 when my Dad would have been about 21. Here is a short clip he took of some people outside a old car below a geological formation in #Yellowstone

And then I found THIS for $9 at Goodwill, Longshot has blessed my day. #RetroTech #8mm

Finally getting to #bend some for real parts of my timer cube. I was gonna bend a full on practice version, but after the AD FU in clear, I just went ahead and bent it out of some #8mm #Aquamarine scraps. They weren't even straight scraps and the only flaws to me are one side of the A is too short and the D of AD is too skinny.

I think its pretty much ok though.
RESULTS ORIENTED in ruby will be the real #challenge I think.

One of my relics from that little company in Rochester. The focus ring is frozen on about 5’ but the aperture ring still turns. The fps can be set to 16, 24, 32, and 64. The hand crank still turns and the camera runs. So as long as the subject is 5 feet away it’s great. Now where to find regular 8mm film. Interestingly, it has a setting for 9mm and 13mm. I’m assuming the width of the film options including sprocket holes.

Found this vintage #Kodak #8mm #projector while clearing some stored bits and pieces.

I've put it on eBay for what good it will do. Analogue technology (other than vinyl records) seems to have no place in the digital age.

I don’t know if anyone’s been following my chat with @SteptoeEdwall but we’ve been talking about 8mm film and home movies.
So here’s a little stop motion thing I did when I was about 15. My “company” was called Orange Peel Productions and I used that til I was about 18. This little clip was spliced onto the end of all the films.
All the kids that joined in got these snazzy t shirts made in the mall.

@SteptoeEdwall I kept everything. I’ve just moved a lot and some stuff gets lost in the process. I still have most of it though. The Museum of Modern Art in NY did a presentation on home movies. Jonas Mekas called home movies “the folk poetry of the people”.
