Spent the morning in the shop cutting the pentagonal top and bottom for my socket caddy, installing the lazy susan bearing in the bottom, and putting glue blocks inside the five-sided caddy. After lunch, it’ll be time for a trip to the hardware store for some nuts and bolts to mount the bearing to the base. Turns out I have hundreds of #10 and 1/4 inch nuts and bolts, but the bearings need #8s, and I have none. #woodworking
Alright - so, I tried (and failed) to find long-enough and thin-enough bolts to properly *bolt* the HOTAS to my desk, and instead have to make do with wood screws going almost-but-not-quite the whole way through. (#8 x 3" for reference - #10s I think fit too, but not the X52 Pro; #8s barely fit)
It's *almost* straight, good enough for my warped desk. Pre-drilled pilot holes first, tried to template with paper and such. Not perfect, but it does the job!
