@XAct_6510 Love it! I have a Denon turntable that I use to spin my vinyl, but I also have an old stereo in the garage that my late father-in-law installed that plays 8-tracks. I've been thinking I need to rescue it and it's speakers from the rafters and bring it back to life. You've inspired me! Thanks!

Turns out it is an Automatic Radio HXM-4500 which was a Toronto, Canada company! Speakers are Toshiba.

Back in 1971, new tech innovations announced themselves rather modestly in comparison to today. A tv or magazine ad. Maybe. CBS Records, chose to introduce the 'latest thing' - in this instance their audio tape formats - on one side of the paper inner sleeve of the LP you just bought. (On the other side of the inner sleeve was a selection of other releases on the label. This was common practice throughout the 60s). And what a load of information you got! :o

The Beatles "Rarities" album (US version) came out today in 1980. I was too young to buy it at the time, but did borrow it a few times (on vinyl) from the local public library. Here it is on 8-Track. New enough to have a barcode on it!

I was going through some boxes recently, and found an album with an anniversary coming up. The New York Dolls signed a 2 album deal with Mercury Records 50 years ago this month, recorded the first one the month after, and released it that July. Here it is on 8-Track!

@historyofpunkrock Double Nickles....Man, I love the album are in tiny rectangular format. During my overlap with the era, I had pretty terrible taste in music I've mostly only seen these on CD or Vinyl. Wish I still had my collection and I would share a pic of Sex Pistols and Blondie.

I am old, but also tech savvy. This section of my entertainment center is called "Excuse me, Sir, I believe your has exploded".

Note, there *is* a direct path from the player to the . The dangling TOSLINK cable is currently unplugged, but it *does* provide fiber optic digital signal from the 8-track.

did I do this? Even I don't know.
