“I will be thrilled to have my children learn as I did not, frankly, about Black history, to learn about Asian American history, to learn about the history of Indigenous people to a degree that I did not,” Saval said. “It’d be great for certainly my children and children across the state, to be able to see themselves and for their peers, in turn, to be able to see them.”

I dont support it either and won't unless they include reparations to all of the families of the Chinese in California who were lynched, displaced and dipossessed because of racism here too.
"Events like the UNC shooting, as well as the 2021 Atlanta spa shootings, highlight a culture that’s prone to gun violence and the vulnerability of Asian immigrants in America, said Eileen Chengyin Chow, a Duke University associate professor of the Practice of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies."

"...retail tenants tend to serve as social gathering places that attract diverse clienteles for reasons that go beyond shopping. A Chinese noodle bar in a complex might draw families celebrating Lunar New Year or birthdays, for example, who can then pop into the Korean clothing store next door or grab sweets at the Japanese bakery around the corner. And for sites like Asian Garden Mall, community events like the night market are added draws."
"'She is creating sort of a radio-friendly version of the pop-punk that millennials grew up with, so to them, it feels nostalgic and familiar,' he says...Rodrigo has really leant into this nostalgia with her choice of live covers. During 2022's Sour Tour, she sang Avril Lavigne's 2002 pop-rock smash Complicated, No Doubt's 1995 feminist anthem Just a Girl and Veruca Salt's 1994 grunge nugget Seether."
This is why her music is so familiar! 🥰

"Until recently, I told everyone I was born in Chicago. Every school form, all of my college and job applications, and even my medical records listed my birthplace as Illinois. That was a lie. I was actually born in Hong Kong to a woman I’ve never met. And until last year, more than 60 years after my birth, I kept my adoption a secret."
"Despite our country’s history of racially discriminatory laws, Asian immigrants and Asian Americans have consistently engaged in labor resistance. On June 25, 1887, thousands of Chinese railroad workers staged a strike to demand equal pay to white laborers, better working conditions, and shorter workdays. Asian immigrants and Asian Americans have also engaged in labor solidarity and union organizing with other marginalized groups."

Lost earnings due to the gender wage gap are exacerbating the effects of COVID-19 for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander women—and for the families who depend on their income. These lost earnings leave our women without a financial safety net in this crisis.

"Ms. Kish is a gay Korean adoptee and a proud product of the Midwest. She hits the notes sung by culinary stars before her: She co-wrote a cookbook, opened a restaurant and makes much of her living on camera, a skill she polished on several other shows before landing the “Top Chef” job in July. On social media, she toggles seamlessly between charming brand promotions, food tips and sincere declarations..."

"Several recent studies addressing the topic found that while Asian Americans are well-represented as physicians and researchers, very few continue up the ladder to senior positions like dean or department chair. This under-representation in leadership is something that's often overlooked since Asian Americans are so visibly present in medicine. But doctors I spoke with say that it's a result of...discrimination that needs to be called out."

"...Houston’s location of Dookki, the first in the U.S., is pretty significant. Part of a larger Korean chain that has more than 350 locations around the world, mostly in Southeast Asia, the all-you-can-eat restaurant offers a more modern spin on tteokbokki, a traditional meal of chewy rice or wheat cakes that are simmered in a broth mixed with spicy and sweet sauces, vegetables, and other ingredients."
"Ten minutes into Randall Park’s deftly brilliant film adaptation of Adrian Tomine’s dark and bitter graphic novel “Shortcomings,” I was suddenly convinced that Asian Americans have finally arrived where we’ve always belonged — and where we might have been a century ago, were it not for the decades of relentless stereotyping, exclusion and erasure we’ve faced in Hollywood."
“I know what it’s like to grow up in a small town and never see leaders who looked like me, let alone who fought for me,” Bishop said in a statement. “It’s time for the next generation of Texans to lead — to protect our state’s environment and economy, to safeguard our schools and our right to education, and to truly represent the majority of this great state.”

As a 3rd gen born Chinese American, I take issue w/calling the subject of this article Chinese American.
He was a Chinese national w/no ancestral or familial ties to American who was involved in a criminal enterprice on his own behalf and arguably on behalf of China but is was NOT a Chinese American.

Ramaswamy is an example why most Asian Americans that I know (including me) do not consider Indians (the people from the subcontinent of India) are NOT Asian.
They are a race/ethnicity in and of themself and have virtually nothing in common with Asians from China, Japan and Southeast Asia.
It's time to STOP calling them Asian Americans!!!!
They're Indian Americans (not Native Americans) and have nothing in common w/me a 3rd Gen Born Chinese American.
"We found that Asian and Asian American students experienced high levels of stressors during the COVID-19 pandemic. By fall 2020, 9% had a loved one who had died from COVID-19, 7% reported experiencing discriminatory behavior because of the pandemic, and 61% had pandemic-related financial stress. Compared with 2019, Asian students in 2020 reported significantly more insomnia and psychological distress."
"Also displayed in the study were the number of films that didn’t feature a single woman of color in a speaking role. It found that in 2022, 44 top box office films didn’t have any Asian girls or women, 99 lacked Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander women, 61 didn’t feature a Latina and 32 didn’t feature a Black woman."
