Highly recommend #SeanAnders' #Spirited on AppleTV as the feel-good movie of the holiday season.

Years ago at the Kennedy Center, I had the good fortune to work with composers #PasekAndPaul, who bring the best of Broadway-style music to this big screen show. #ChloeArnold's choreography is inventive and joyful (and she's just so much fun to watch dance). Plus, #WillFerrell and #RyanReynolds make the perfect on-screen odd couple.

The Gospel of #JesusChrist. Dickens had a hard life growing up. As a child his father was put into debtors prison and he worked sometimes 14 hours a day in a shoe blacking factory. He knew first-hand what hardship was like and he should have become a bitter old man just like his rascally character #EbenezerScrooge.

Just watched the Frederick March #AChristmasCarol Many songs I've never heard before.

#AChristmasCarol I am become cynical. I don't believe a real Scrooge would have been in the least affected by the Spirits. It's not as if he hadn't ignored the misery around him for decades.

I remember first hearing the story of A Christmas Carol as a child and thinking that world, and that Ebenezer Scrooge character, sounded so awful. Being so glad this popular tale had made everyone see how wrong such selfishness and greed was and how much we ought to help others rather than leave them to suffer. But I hear it now, in 2022, and I just see contemporary British society and contemporary British attitudes reflected in most of the pages until the end. Instead of the social justice Dickens imagined, we got a country full of Scrooges.

It's slowly becoming a holiday tradition to rewatch the #darkfantasy, BCC One version of "A Christmas Carol"

To be super clear, this is not a good vibes holiday show.

It's very much an *adult* miniseries, and as a CW, includes child sexual abuse, forced prostitution, and other intense scenes.

But it's also a really interesting #fantasy take on the themes of a classic tale: capitalist exploitation, trauma, etc. It'll scratch that #sociology itch for some.

Watching George C Scott's #AChristmasCarol. Don't know why I hadn't thought of it before, but what pleasure did Scrooge get from his money? I certainly can't imagine the super rich of today leading such miserly lives.
