#SeptembeRPG Day 5: A personal change you felt in your games in the passing year
1) I did not play less games, but completely abandoned running campaigns (for now!). After a fun, but unsuccessful attempt to revisit #CurseOfStradh using the #ADnD2E rules instead of #5e / #Corpodnd i mostly ran one and few shots.
2) I also started to play #ttrpgs with great people I met on Mastodon. Turns out, this is a fantastic place to find engaged players and turn social media contacts into friends 😮

31. Favorite RPG of all time. For game system, I'm torn between AD&D 2e and 3.5. That said, I never played D&D as much or as often as my early college years and that was 2e, so that gets the nod from me. I literally played the cover off my PHB (although that was probably the binding 🤣). I still have it.
Day 31: FAVORITE
In 1990/91 I was a sophomore in high school and my friend Adam called me out of the blue. He and a couple of guys were getting a #DnD game together. I was in.
We played an #ADnD2e campaign and those memories are why I'm wrapping up #RPGaDay2023 with it. My first real DnD group.
I moved halfway thru high school, made new gaming friends. We played Dark Sun, Planescape, Dragon Mountain, Undermountain, Spelljammer.
It was the first #ttrpg I ever ran and designed for. My preshus

20. Still play in 20 years? It's hard to say with some of the potential options in the works, but I'm feel fairly confident to say either AD&D 2e or D&D 3.5.

18. Favorite game system. Either D&D 3.5e or AD&D 2e. I'll lean 3.5 because our version of 2e has a couple of prominent home rules.

Day 18 – Favourite game system.
Perhaps the hardest question for me to answer so far. I tend to flit from one #TTRPG to another.
I always come back to #ADnD2E, Basic #DnD, and d% #BRP systems though, so something about them must be able to hold my malnourished attention span.

#RPGaDAY2023 Ok, I'll jump on this one. Day 13: Most memorable character demise. It was my first character. He was an elven mage, built using the AD&D 2nd edition rules. He had 3 hit points. And he didn't roll high enough to climb down the rope into The Sunless Citadel. He was succeeded by another elven mage, lol. #ttrpg #dnd #ADnD2E

Day 13 at #RPGaDay2023: Most memorable character demise
Never died in #ttrpg I gm'ed the #ADnD2E campaigns and as a player the Fate Point system in #WFRP saved me quite often.
So, my most memorable character demise was a #larp SC. In a battle I suddenly stood face to face with a lich and considered myself a goner. But he only cursed me with blindness + I had to wander blind across the field. And so I died, 'cos another player thought, I must be a zombie (outstretched arms) and beheaded me

#RPGaDAY2023 Day 12:
Old game that you still play: #ADnD2E and if I include retroclones: #OSE (dnd B/X) which provided me with some of the best gaming experiences of the last years. Especially when playing mostly online, OSE provides an opportunity to just create a character on the fly and get straight into adventure gaming
@Morgunin @HeyeBodo @Jensenator when I got to 5th grade, I had to travel by train about 30+min to my new school. While waiting for my train home I browsed through the bookshop at the train station and bought a book called 'Dragonlance Chronicles' - I chose it over 'Wheel of Time' 'cos for the latter there was no Volume 1 in the display... 3 years later I was the weird one who convinced his fellows to try 'Hero Quest' which inevitably led to #ADnD2E and the Dragonlance setting

Day 10: favorite tie-in fiction

#Dragonlance …but ONLY for nostalgic reasons. We were kids with #Krynn Postermaps above our beds, reading through the #ADnD2E players guide until our eyes burnt (and thereby learned English terms for super obscure polearms), cried because of Sturm Brightblade (Solamniaaaaa…!!!), and modeled PCs after Raistlin, the original edgelord. Alas, I made the grave mistake to listen into a Dragonlance Audiobook a few years ago… 🫣

8. It's probably my Calishite thief initially inspired by Daryth from Darkwalker on Moonshae, but would eventually grow an obnoxiously big business and criminal empire. #ADnD1e
I also had a pixie thief that started as a follower for my ranger character (from the old followers chart). He died and I intended to play him until we got out of the dungeon and I could bring in a new character. We had so much fun with him, we used the Complete Humanoids Handbook to give him levels. #ADnD2e #RPGaDAY2023
@DM_Zeppelin have ye olde box and I still love me some #ADnD2E But to convince my friends, I should probably go all B/X (OSE) or #WorldsWithoutNumber ..WwN would actually quite a good fit, i reckon
@mrundkvist it is weird how vividly one can remember one‘s first player character when you start playing „elfgames“ as a kid, isn‘t it? Like some memorable rite de passage. Lately, I talked to an old friend on the phone who still bemourns the demise of his #Adnd2E character „Ligur“ back in 1995… (oops, I was the dm in that session 🫢). And that guy does not even play #ttrpgs anymore since the late 1990s. Still keeps his dice though..as far as I know

1) First RPG i played (this year)
#ADnD2E
I still have much love for the 2nd ed, especially for the gorgeous boxed sets: #Ravenloft #Darksun …
